Change and Release Manager – ITIL v3 – Central Birmingham

Change and Release Manager required for a leading organisation based in Birmingham City Centre, where you will be responsible for implementing and managing both change and release processes through development, test and production environments. You will play a key part in establishing recognised governing competence for release package design, creation and testing to enable effective planning and to drive better efficiencies of time, quality and cost.

The ideal candidate will have experience of operating Change and Release processes to ITIL v3 framework.

Key Responsibilities of the role:

  • Accountable for installation verification and rollback planning for all changes and releases
  • Collect, collate and examine records as part of specified testing strategies for evidence of conformance with management directives, or the identification of abnormal occurrences
  • Lead the assessment, analysis, planning and design of release packages, including assessment of risk
  • Liaise with business and ICT partners on release scheduling and build a centralised “Release Window”
  • Conduct post change and release reviews, to ensure all fixes and changes have been successfully applied and introduce an ethos of continual improvement of quality
  • Maintain the Release Schedule and Forward Schedule of Change for all core services and ensure alignment across IT, key partners and suppliers
  • Track and manage the performance of Partners and Suppliers to ensure respective quality gates and assurance to the Change and Release Process are adhered too
  • Manage alignment with Incident/Problem management functions
  • Implement a centralised view of impending Changes and Releases to ensure there is no conflict which can jeopardise services
  • Continually review and assess the maturity of both the change and release processes and implement improvements to instil an ethos of continual improvement

Key Skills of the role:

  • Experience in operating Change and Release Processes to ITIL v3 framework
  • ITIL V3 certification (Foundation or Intermediate, Expert would be ideal)
  • Strong stakeholder management who can communicate complex messages to all relevant levels of business
  • Experience of defining and utilising relevant performance metrics to drive continual process improvement and maturity
  • Ability to resolve conflict and to deal with competing priorities
  • Strong interpersonal skills, be able to build trust, understanding and loyalty at all levels
  • Desirable for you to have knowledge of cloud based services (e.g Azure) and knowledge of Project Management approaches (e.g Prince2/Agile)

Salary

The salary for this position is up to £52,000 per annum, plus excellent benefits including flexible working.
