SQL DBA – SQL/T-SQL – Birmingham City Centre

SQL Database Administrator required for a global organisation based in Birmingham City Centre, where you will play a key part in the new global infrastructure team. You will be responsible for key migrations and projects, whilst delivering end user support for IT database systems used by the organisation. This is an excellent opportunity for a confident SQL professional to make a real impact in an exciting and growing team.

The ideal candidate will have excellent knowledge and experience across all SQL platforms from 2008 to 2017. You will also have SSIS and SSRS experience, and it would also be highly desirable if you had experience with Azure, however this is not essential.

Key responsibilities of the role:

  • Management, support and upgrade of legacy SQL servers
  • Migrations from different OS platforms up to Windows 2016
  • Work with internal applications and systems to deploy code changes
  • Analysis and preparation of core data systems ready for upgrades
  • Performance analysis including using key tools like SQL Profiler
  • Third line support for all core applications on premise and SAAS solutions
  • Working collaboratively with other international operations teams with a focus on prompt delivery in a rapidly changing environment
  • Technology and system innovation to ensure current systems are kept up-to-date and within software and hardware supported guidelines

Key Skills of the role:

  • Administration experience/understanding of SQL Server relational database management
  • Knowledge of SQL high-availability and disaster recovery options
  • Ability to query databases using T-SQL and troubleshooting scripting issues
  • Basic / Good understanding and use of PowerShell
  • Experience/understanding of SQL Integration Services
  • Experience of having worked with ADDS, any exposure to Azure/Azure AD would be useful
  • Ideal to have experience of reporting solutions in SSRS and Power BI
  • Understanding of change control processes, ideally exposure to ITIL
  • Good knowledge and experience across all SQL platforms from 2008 to 2017

The salary for this position is up to £50,000 per annum, but there may be some flexibility for the ideal candidate. There is also an excellent benefits package on offer, including flexibility working/pension/healthcare.
