Service Desk Analyst – 1st Line – Northampton

Service Desk Analyst required for a leading Global Client based in Northampton where you will be required to be a central point of contact between the Business, users of our systems users and external 3rd parties. It is through the service desk that all IT incidents and requests are handled. As such this is a high-profile role as it represents the user with their first, and lasting, impression of IT.

Key responsibilities of the role

  • To provide technical support; answering support queries via phone, email or face to face
  • To Take ownership of user incident and problems and be proactive when dealing with user issues.
  • To log all calls on Service Now (call logging system) and maintain full documentation.
  • To allocate more complex service issues the 2nd line support team based on SOP’s.
  • To maintain a high degree of customer service for all support queries and adhere to all service management principles.
  • The Service Desk operates on a rota basis and so flexibility of working hours is a pre-requisite for this role.

Key skills of the role

  • A strong knowledge of Microsoft based operating systems with emphasis on Windows desktop technologies (Windows 7 and Windows 10).
  • Previous experience using and troubleshooting Microsoft Office (MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint).
  • Experience with using and troubleshooting Outlook within a network environment (permissions, calendar sharing, and delegation).
  • A basic understanding of PC hardware set-up and configuration.
  • Previous experience in 1st line / Helpdesk support.
  • Basic iSeries knowledge, around printing and profiles would be beneficial, but not essential.

The salary my client is offering for this position is £18,000 per annum plus benefits.
