Lead IT Infrastructure Engineer required for a market-leading organisation based near Oxford/Abingdon. As the Lead Infrastructure Engineer, you will be working in a dynamic technical environment and be exposed to a varied array of technology. As line manager for a small team of 3rd line IT engineers, you will be involved in investigating problems and providing root cause analysis, solutions, and fixes (BAU and Project work). The role will mainly be on-site working, with some flexible working if required (1/2 days from home)

The ideal candidate will have previous experience working at fast pace across various technologies, including Hyper-V and Windows Server, as a Lead Infrastructure Engineer or similar within a previous role. However the role would also suit a Systems/Infrastructure Engineer that is looking for the next step in their career.

Key Responsibilities of the role include:

  • Technical administration & managing the day-to-day operations, supporting multi-site technical environments including Microsoft based endpoints, servers & solutions, switches, firewalls, server rooms and administration of SANs.
  • Take a lead technical role on infrastructure projects replacing legacy and implementing new solutions for the business, installing, configuring, and architecting the solutions.
  • Lead and implement security controls to review.
  • Oversee the infrastructures asset management, ensuring that hardware and software is maintained and replaced as required.
  • Take ownership of escalated 3rd line support issues and resolving any queries within SLA.
  • Ensure that 3rd party applications run efficiently across all platforms.
  • Give training and mentorship to team members to further develop the IT support team.

Key Skills required:

  • Experience supporting Microsoft based applications & solutions based on-premised or Office365.
  • Understanding and experience of desktop and server hardware deployment and management.
  • Ability to support network TCP/ IP, Switches, routers, and wireless networks.
  • High-level knowledge on security technologies such as Firewalls, VPN, Proxy, Content Filtering / IPS/ IDS.
  • Experience supporting virtualisation centred on Hyper-V.
  • Experience with direct management and team leadership.
  • Understanding and application of ITIL.
  • Excellent communication skills including the ability to interact with individuals at all levels.
  • IT qualifications or demonstrable experience & understanding across extended years.


Our client is offering a salary of £50,000- £60,000 per annum DOE plus excellent benefits.
