Meggitt is a global engineering group specialising in extreme environment components and smart sub-systems for aerospace, defence and energy markets.
Customer Service and Support (CSS) have responsibility for commercial and military aerospace spares distribution and the maintenance, repair and overhaul operations. It operates through 27 facilities covering three continents, with a turnover of over 2 billion.
Business Development Manager, Chris O’Brien, has over 14 years’ experience in candidate attraction and an impressive network of talented candidates. Chris and the Crimson delivery team have worked in partnership with Meggitt for the past two years.
Crimson have sourced over 40 specialist SAP resources, on a contract and permanent basis for Meggitt. The recruitment drive was powered by Meggitt’s global transformation plan and the need to update their global SAP (ERP) systems.
The project included several phases, cutovers and re-location programmes. Vacancies covered the Midlands, Southampton, Bournemouth and across to the United States of America and Asia.
Meggitt had previously struggled to fill the roles because of the current market and a skills shortage. Chris utilised his own extensive network and Crimson’s powerful referral scheme that enables thousands of its customers and candidates to refer individuals and receive a reward.
Immediacy was certainly one of the challenges on this project because of the timescales, fortunately Crimson are known for their rapid placements of candidates which is due excellent record keeping. Understanding who is available is vital. To ensure the quality of candidates Chris met with individuals up and down the country screening them against very specific criteria.

The transformation project is an ongoing success. Pre-planned, intelligent sourcing is key to the success of the project as well as progress reports that give Meggitt a snapshot view of the resourcing process. Crimson is not only preferred supplier to Meggitt for future IT resource, they also provide IT solutions for Meggitt and their subsidiaries. Meggitt have also invited Crimson to run workshops.
