Job Description

Back-end Developer – AWS/Azure – Hybrid/Kent

We are looking for a skilled Back-end Developer with expertise in Azure/AWS cloud platforms and proficiency in C# programming language. The Back-end Developer will be responsible for designing, developing, and maintaining scalable and efficient server-side applications and services. This role requires a strong understanding of cloud-based architectures, distributed systems, and best practices for building robust and secure back-end solutions.

The salary for this postion is between £60,000 and £70,000 per annum depending on experience.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Software Development: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality back-end applications and services using C# programming language and related technologies. Write clean, efficient, and maintainable code that meets performance, scalability, and security requirements.
  • Cloud Architecture: Architect and implement cloud-based solutions on Azure/AWS platforms, leveraging platform-as-a-service (PaaS) and infrastructure-as-a-service (IaaS) offerings. Design scalable and resilient back-end services using cloud-native technologies such as Azure Functions, AWS Lambda, and serverless computing.
  • Database Management: Design and optimize database schemas, queries, and transactions to ensure efficient data storage and retrieval. Utilize relational databases (e.g., SQL Server, MySQL) or NoSQL databases (e.g., Azure Cosmos DB, AWS DynamoDB) based on application requirements.
  • API Development: Develop and maintain RESTful APIs and web services to enable seamless integration with front-end applications, third-party services, and external systems. Implement authentication, authorization, and access control mechanisms to protect APIs and ensure data privacy and security.
  • Microservices Architecture: Decompose monolithic applications into microservices and design distributed systems that are scalable, fault-tolerant, and loosely coupled. Implement communication protocols (e.g., HTTP, gRPC) and service discovery mechanisms to facilitate inter-service communication and coordination.
  • DevOps Practices: Implement continuous integration (CI) and continuous deployment (CD) pipelines to automate build, test, and deployment processes. Collaborate with DevOps teams to integrate back-end services with deployment tools, monitoring systems, and logging frameworks for operational excellence.
  • Performance Optimization: Identify and address performance bottlenecks, memory leaks, and resource utilization issues in back-end applications. Optimize code, algorithms, and database queries to improve response times, throughput, and scalability of services.
  • Security and Compliance: Implement security best practices for authentication, encryption, data protection, and compliance with regulatory standards (e.g., GDPR, HIPAA). Conduct security assessments, vulnerability scans, and code reviews to identify and mitigate security risks.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, or a related field; Master’s degree preferred.
  • 3+ years of experience in back-end development, with a focus on C#/.NET stack.
  • Proficiency in cloud platforms and services, particularly Azure/AWS, including compute, storage, networking, and security offerings.
  • Strong understanding of software architecture principles, design patterns, and best practices for building scalable and maintainable back-end systems.
  • Experience with database technologies such as SQL Server, MySQL, Azure Cosmos DB, AWS DynamoDB.
  • Hands-on experience with DevOps practices, CI/CD pipelines, automated testing, and monitoring tools.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to work independently or collaboratively in a dynamic environment.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
