GO Outdoors is one of the largest outdoor fashion and equipment retailers in the UK. It boasts the UK’s widest range of outdoor products at the lowest prices.
The company was set-up in Sheffieldin1969, where its HQ is still based,and it nowhas 49 stores across the UK.
Chris O’Brien, Crimson’s specialist IT recruitment consultant for the retail sector, approached GO Outdoors to see if he could help the retailer, who had struggled to source a Business Analysis contractor for their technical team.
At this point, GO Outdoors had been working with a number of IT recruitment agencies for more than a fortnight but they had all failed to ‘come up with the goods’.
With phase one of a major omni channel retail technology project due to launch in a week’s time, it was crucial that the right candidate be found.
Working alongside Paul Lyon, CTO at GO Outdoors, Chris created a detailed job specification including all of the ideal candidate’stechnical and personal qualities.
Having specialised in retail recruitment for more than five years, Chris’s then scoured his extensive book of contacts to find the candidate that fit Dave’s criteria.
It took Chris just two days to source the perfect candidate for GO Outdoors.
As a result, the retailer was able to begin their new omni channel development project on time and with the right team in place.
Over the past few years, GO Outdoors has invested heavily in its technology strategy to improve the efficiency of their e-commerce, logistics, and in-store services. This investment helped to foster an8.5% increase in profits in the financial year ending 26 January 2014.
